Gantt Chart Page Printing

Duncan -

I've tried to print out this page - but it will not fit on to A4 in portrait mode using MSIE 5.0 :-( The last 3-4 characters get chopped off.

Most annoying. I would have thought that as your site is an English one and you even talk about A4 in the text - you'd arrange for your page layout to fit on A4!! The only way I could sort it was to use landscape.

I thought this was a fair point and wrote back as follows.

Well, nothing if not direct, Mike!

Here's my daily dose of paranoia and my innate British duty to please.

I originally had that page on my other site and if you notice it has two backgrounds: one under my control and one a complete mystery. You caught me about 24 hours away from reformatting this page to tidy it up.

You may have noticed that I am using tables rather than frames to build my pages these days. I am also getting to grips with realising that IE now has a Print Preview facility that is useful and accurate.

One of the challenges facing the Gantt Chart page is the size of tables and graphics ... I printed it out in landscape too, as a matter of interest.

I appreciate your quality control and assume that since you printed out the page you found it useful.

Best wishes

Duncan

Here's Mike's final comment interleaved with a couple of mine from my previous message.

Well ... I thought it was a really interesting article - a good mix of chatty style and technical stuff. So the fact that I did sweat over a hot printer trying to make sure I got the pages correctly oriented [printing single sheet, both sides] is a star for you.

I've checked my IE5.0 and it doesn't seem to have one. Maybe I should upgrade - to 5.5 or 6.0

Yes .. . it is a problem. Anyway - thanks for your measured response. You'd make a good diplomat ;-)
