Fran in the drink in Stockholm!

Personal Stuff

I have been to the South East of France for a ten day holiday, with family in tow. Click here to read another of my ever effervescent travelogues: A Week in Provence

Mrs W's spent some time with one of our caring profession institutions and you can read a few snippets about her experiences here: anonymous but all true.

Fran used to be a bit of a poet and I've just refound some of her work. Take a look at some of what she did when she was 10 or 11 years old.

Fran, and she swims for Great Britain. Fran is in the GB disabled swimmers' team. Fran competed in the July/August 2001 European Championships: unfortunately, they have now taken down the official web site of that event ... Fran was there, though!

  • Here's a summary of the British medal winning performances at the Championships. Fran won two Bronze medals and got three British Records; so scroll down to see her name in lights!

  • See Fran on the BBC! and scroll down to see confirmation on the BBC Sports News site of one of Fran's new British Records (200 metres Freestyle): more progress, Fran!

I watched a television Programme about Thomas Alva Edison, American scientist, inventor and businessman ... I was astounded at his contribution to humanity, it had passed me by. Here's my small tribute by way of a brief review of what he did.

Have you ever been fascinated by something like ... a tree? I was when I learned about the Pocket Handkerchief Tree. Aslo known as the Dove Tree and the Ghost Tree. It's a Chinese miracle that's in lots of places in the UK now.

Fran sent me an e-mail that I have posted here. It's a bit of fun.

I have written a travelogue of my trip to Almaty, Kazakhstan. A few bits of blether, some interesting words about business development: mainly for those of you interested to see informal ways of measuring economic development.
