I have Blogged on this matter too ... ONS GDP Data Blog
This page has the sole purpose of illustrating the GDP figures for the UK for quarters 2 and 3 of 2008. The page comprises a table and two charts.
I have taken the data for the table from the Office of National Statistics site, the address for which is contained in the final line of the table.
The charts are exploded Pie Charts derived purely from the table of data.
Make of these data what you will and there is even more to review on the ONS page, as it includes another chart that contains GDP growth data for the period 2003 - 2008. This additional chart is useful for putting the latest, Q3 2008 data, intoa much longer term context than is being discussed in the news today. Today the BBC and financial times, for example, are announcing a recession for the UK as if based on these latest quarterly data. In reality they are taking a more long term view: you should do the same.
